These basic classroom procedures will be used consistently throughout the school year. Please learn them and commit them to memory. Everyone will be expected to adhere to all classroom rules and procedures. Excellence in everything we do is our goal, and that cannot be accomplished without a safe and orderly learning environment.
I. Entering the Classroom
A. Enter the classroom quietly, take your seat, and immediately begin working on your bell work.
B. Once in the classroom, do not leave for any reason without the teacher's permission.
C. Pencils, if allowed to used on a particular assignment, must be sharpened before the beginning of class.
D. Only the class leader will hand out materials without the express permission of the teacher.
E. The class leader will take roll and present it to the teacher prior to the end of the bell work session.
F. The bellwork session is 5 minutes. The class leader will signal to the class the end of the session.
G. The daily objective, date, and assignment will be posted on the board.
H. A make-up work box will be located in a designated area. It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to make up work.
I. Students have 3 days after an absence to make up work with a signed excuse.
J. Eating or chewing gum is not allowed in class at any time.
K. The TPSS dress code will be enforced at all times.
II. Tardies
A. A student is considered tardy if he/she is not seated and ready to work when the tardy bell sounds.
B. Class officially begins when the tardy bell sounds and the teacher has closed the door.
C. Tardies to class will be handled in accordance with the TPSS Student Handbook.
III. Leaving the Classroom
A. The dismissal bell is a signal for the teacher, not the student.
B. Students are to remain seated, even after the bell sounds. The teacher will dismiss the students in a particular order.
C. Students are to collect any trash in his/her area before leaving the classroom.
D. Students are to never run and must leave the class in a quiet and orderly manner.
NOTE: Students are NOT to get up during class time to throw away trash. Students are to always remain seated until directed otherwise.
IV. Classroom Discussion/Participation
A. Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
B. Do not yell out answers or talk out of turn.
C. Be respectful to others at all times. Do not talk if someone else is talking.
D. Take part in all class activities. Remember, your grade depends on it.
E. Notebooks will only be used for SOCIAL STUDIES work. No other subject matter will be allowed.
F. Turn in all work on time.
V. Passing Out/Collecting Papers
A. Only the teacher or designated class leader will pass out materials.
B. Materials will be passed to the row leader, who will take one and pass the remaining back.
C. Materials to be turned in will be passed to the front of the row. The class leader will collect all copies from the row leaders.
D. The class leader will put materials in the designated location.
VI. Auditorium/Lunch/Special Assembly Procedures
A. Students will be dismissed in row or ABC order by the teacher.
B. Students will line up quietly at the door in specified order and instructed by the teacher when to move.
C. The class leader will always be at the front of the line.
D. The last person to exit the class must turn out the lights and close the door.
E. Do not leave any materials in class unless specifically instructed to do so by the teacher.
F. Students go to the designated area in a quiet, orderly and single-file line.
G. Only one or two students causing a problem for the entire class may cause the class to forfeit the assembly.
