Check students Homework folders daily...remember to sign them. Graded papers will be sent home via the white communicator used for school notes. Remember to keep the graded papers at home.
Students will be checking out books from the classroom. They will need to read the book and complete a book report by September 10th. This will be a graded activity. The books will be checked out on Tuesday. The book report form will be sent home at a later date.
Week of August 30th
Reading: "Schools Around the World"
Skills: vowel sounds ee, ea, ai, ay, oa, ow; locating information in a story.
Vocabulary: proper, boarding, chores, certain, resources, culture, tutor, uniforms, literacy, diverse.
There will be a Reading quiz on Friday.
Math: Chapter 23...test Friday.
Spelling: Lesson 3 deep, play, lean, glow, team, away, slow, trail, dream, stain, toast, speed, raise, sweet, layer...test Thursday.
English: Sentences...subjects and predicates ex) A wood stove heated the classroom. A wood stove>subject heated the classroom.>predicate...Quiz Friday.
Social Studies- H pages in the front of the Social Studies book which cover map skills. No Test this week.
Handwriting: Cursive...practice!! I will be using print for the first 6 weeks. After that, students will need to read and write in cursive.
Computer Lab: Students are working on keyboard skills. If you have access to a computer, please allow them to practice at home. Focus on finger placement.
Notes: Remember to send $15 supply fee. Please watch absences. Students missing 13 or more days of school (excused or not) will be retained as per parish policy. Any parent wanting to send snacks to be shared in class is welcome. We have 22 students.
