Champ Cooper School 2010-2011
Positive Behavior Support (PBS):

CCS:
Be Considerate
Be Cooperative
Be Safe

Two Components of PBS:
     1.)  Cougar Cash
     2.)  Tracking Sheets

What is Cougar Cash?

Cougar Cash is one of two main components of our PBS Program.  Students in Pre-K – 8th grades will be able to earn Cougar Cash for good behavior, perfect attendance, and following school-wide expectations.  Each staff member will have Cougar Cash to give to students as they earn them.  K- 2nd grade teachers will be in charge of managing their students’ Cougar Cash by their own system.  3rd – 8th grade students will be in charge of managing their money, not their teachers.

What is a tracking sheet and what is it used for?

Tracking sheets is the other main component of Champ Cooper PBS along with Cougar Cash
Every teacher in grades Pre-K – 8th will have a tracking sheet for their homeroom.  The tracking sheet will travel with that class throughout the day.  It is used for 2 week periods, and then a new one will start.  This is geared towards classroom and hallway behavior.  The purpose of the tracking sheet is to see what step a student is on at a quick glance.  This will also help the teachers and administrators determine who is eligible to buy and participate in certain incentives.  When putting a student on a step, the teacher will circle the step number, date, and initial.  The teacher will also write the code of the misbehavior on the tracking sheet.

What are the steps on the tracking sheet?

Once the teacher has issued a particular student a verbal warning, the next behavior infraction results in marking steps on the tracking sheet.  The steps on the tracking sheets are as follows:

Step 1 = Written Warning (start of tracking sheet)

Step 2 = Punishment (teacher’s choice of punish work, no recess, no PE…)

Step 3 = Call Parent (parent is called to let them know that their child has reached step 3 and that a conference may be necessary if the misbehavior continues)

Step 4 = Parent/Teacher/Student Conference (parent is called for a conference; this is the last step before officially writing student up)

Step 5 = Office Referral (long form; administrators will determine consequences)
