Classroom Updates

Happy Holidays!!

May you all enjoy the time off.

The only homework that will be assigned during the Winter Break will be to READ, READ, READ.

We will be checking out Chapter Books to read over the two weeks.

Parents will need to sign the planner as they vcrify the daily reading.

Pen Pals

Soon we will be receiving our Pen Pal letters from another third grade class in Arizona.  We can't wait to learn
about other third graders on the other side of our country.

Ask your child about his/her new friend!  :D

Parent Link

Access your child's grades, test scores, every week by going to Parent Link.
You need to know your child's ID number.
The password is your child's birthday (00/00/00).

Accelerated Reader (A/R)

Reminder:   A/R goals need to be reached by January 21, 2010   - Keep Reading !!!

At the beginning of each grading period, your child will be given an A/R points goal.  They will have to meet their A/R goal in order to participate in a Goal Reaching Celebration at the end of each grading period.  If you ask your child, they will be able to tell you their individual goal.  Please make sure they are reading their appropriate A/R leveled book everyday at home.  Their individual goals are set under the idea that they are reading at least 50 minutes a day (30 at home and 20 at school).  They will be able to reach their goal, if they are reading at home everyday.  If you would like to monitor your child's A/R level or goals, visit the RenPlace website at:   http://renplace.leeschools.net/renaissanceserver/HomeConnect/Login.aspx

Homework will be given each night (Monday-Thursday).  It will be a continuation of what was covered in class.  Please make sure that your child completes it daily.  Homework will be checked the following day.  If the homework is not completed, your child will receive a planner mark.

Your child will be writing his/her homework in the planner daily.  Please check the planner and sign it nightly.

Planners

Planners are a great tool to communicate.  If there are any concerns or questions, please send me a note in your child's planner.  I will also be communicating with you via the planner, if need be.
