Whats Happening
In the classroom:
Math:
Your child is learning about geometric concepts. First, he or she is learning about some special pictures and symbols used to describe space and location-point, plane, line, and ray. Second, your child is learning how to use a protractor to measure angles and how to classify an angle by its measure. Third, he or she is learning about segments and angles related to circles, about polygons and their special names, how to classify triangles. Last, he or she is learning about three types of transformations, symmetry, and the relationship between congruence and similarity.
In writing we will continue narrative writing, using graphic organizers to organize our sentences into flowing paragraphs, and learning to evaluate and edit writing to create a cohesive five paragraph narrative essay.
