8th Grade Language Arts:
FCAT WRITES Feb. 9, 2010
We are working on adding details to sentences, writing introductions, using transitional words and writing body paragraphs to prepare for FCAT Writes.
Students will also be drafting, editing, and publishing essays using the HATT,TAPES, and CATT models. Ask your 8th grader what each stands for!
Critical Thinking:
Charlotte Doyle Projects : Students are working on their "Photo Stories" Remember to bring in your props and your meat trays!

2009 Davidson Fellows Announced
The Davidson Fellows awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 scholarships to extraordinary young people under the age of 18 who have completed a significant piece of work. Application categories are Mathematics, Science, Literature, Music, Technology, Philosophy and Outside the Box.Davidson Fellows are honored every year in Washington, D.C. with Congressional meetings and a special reception. One Honor Roll Mention student this year was from Florida: Miss Abigail Brennan from Fort Lauderdale was cited for Literature: Metafiction: Myth and Modernity. The deadline for 2010 is March 3, 2010.
