Welcome to 7th and 8th Grade U.S Social Studies at VPAA!

In my 7th grade classes we will be learning about the peoples, cultures, lands, and environments in the different regions of the world.  In 8th grade, our focus will be on the major events, people, and places from the times before Europeans arrived in the Americas through the Civil War and Reconstruction.

Homework assignments will always be posted on this website, and students will be instructed to write them down in their planners as well.  Unless otherwise noted, assignments are due the class session after they are assigned (two school days later).  With our new, alternating days schedule, students will have to be especially careful about keeping track of their assignments and having them completed by the due date.

A test will be given approximately every two  to three weeks, and a quiz will be given during most other weeks.  Tests will always be announced in class and posted on this website at least four days in advance.  Most quizzes will also be announced and posted in advance, but occasionally the students will be quizzed about recently learned material without notice in advance.

All of my practices and procedures are "subject to change" this year, as it will take some time for all of us to get used to our new schedule format.  I appreciate your understanding about this, and I am sure that in time we will all become comfortable with this new system.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at KenBK@leeschools.net.  I'm looking forward to a great year of working with this terrific group of students!

Sincerely,
Mr. Ken Kendall
