The visual arts program at Veterans Park Academy for the Arts offers the students a hands on experience in the visual arts along with appreciation for artists and art history. The students learn the basic elements and principles of design while creating their art projects.

The students are encouraged to be creative and expressive in their projects. Through interdisciplinary units and multicultural projects the students learn art does not have to be “pretty” to be valued as art. Students are required to critique their own work through reflections and self assessment. They are encouraged to accept the responsibility for the care and maintenance of the art supplies and equipment.

 Move Over Famous Artists!  Veterans Park Academy For The Arts artists are taking over the spotlight!  Cyndi Johnson, the school's K-5 Art Teacher, has teamed up with Artsonia, www.artsonia.com  the world's largest online kid's art museum - to display the students'art work.


Anyone can view the school gallery online at:

www.artsonia.com/schools/veterans2. Visitors can browse the artwork in the school gallery by grade level, or by specific exhibits.  Veterans Park Academy  For The Arts students join thousands of students from over 100 countries whose artwork is showcased on Artsonia. This program is a wonderful way to get parents and family members more involved in Art Education.


Artsonia provides several online features such as fan clubs and personal guestbooks, as a way for families to encourage the creativity and imaginations of their young artists. In addition, family members can purchase keepsakes imprinted with the child’s artwork, with Artsonia donating 15 percent of their annual product revenue back to the school arts programs.
