published a new book on September 11, 2012 entitled:

This is How You Lose Her

a selection of connected stories about falling in love and the challenges of growing a relationship in the barrio from a male perspective.

Biography:

Born in the Dominican Republic (D.R.), Junot Diaz immigrated to the US in 1974.  He lived in several cities in Northern NJ before attending Rutgers, majoring in creative writing.  Later, he attended Cornell and received a MFA in 1995.  His first published work was a collection of short stories entitled Drown.  His first novel –
The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao – published in 2007 won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Fiction* in 2008.  This novel tells the story of a young Dominican nerd from Paterson, NJ – a voracious Sci-Fi reader and computer geek - who finds love and an untimely death during several visits to D.R. 


Currently, Junot Diaz divides his time between performing his duties as Writer-in-Residence at MIT and addressing readers on his book tour.  The MHS Library/Media Center owns several copies of Junot’s Diaz’s novel and displays two signed copies of his work.


*The Pulitzer Prize for Fiction is awarded annually to the best work of fiction written by an American author about life in the US.
