Thank you for visiting my web site. I would like to share a little of what goes on daily in my classroom. I use the Saxon math series. We are all aware that mastering the standards we must meet happens at different rates for different students. The Saxon lessons provide a distributed approach that breaks apart traditional chapters and then distributes and integrates the concepts across the year. This creates a learning curve that provides the time most students need to master every part of every standard. With this approach, no skills or concepts are ever dropped and students retain what they have learned longer. We strive to master a depth of understanding of a particular concept through a variety of ways. Keeping the skills and concepts alive and reinforced daily helps students build confidence and eager to approach more challenging problems. Understanding is strengthened through meaningful math connections to daily life--the real world. The Saxon lessons are rich and varied--just like state assessments and in real life.
I want my students to not only do well on the Benchmark and End of Course exams, but to be prepared when they leave my classroom for the math needed in any life's work they might choose. My goal is for each student to build self-confidence and to succeed in math. With your help, encouragement, and support, we can provide a positive learning experience to attain that goal.
