Grammar and poetry terms quiz on Tuesday

Monday: Literature: In the computer lab using www.poets.org, research two poets we have studied in class.  Find details of their lives and work that relate to one of the -isms we have studied.   Grammar: Students will complete a 4-level analysis of a complicated sentence while correcting errors of subject-verb and pronoun-antecedent agreement.

Tuesday: Literature: Use one of the poets you researched as a model.  Copy his or her poem.  Find 2-3 poetry terms (at least one meaning & one sound).  Create your own poem patterned after a particular example of your poet's work.  Write a short explanation, 2-3 sentences, explaining similarities between your work and its model based on two poetic terms.

Wednesday: Literature: Use the other poet you researched as a model.  Complete the same activities as yesterday.

Thursday: Literature: Create a model of a chapbook including both poems by your poet, both of your model poems, your original poem(s), a title page, a cover, a dedication, and explanations of the similarities between your poems and your models.

Friday: Literature: Create your chapbook. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR POSTERBOARD AND LARGE, PAPER GROCERY BAG TODAY.  Also, bring any markers, magazines, or pictures you want to use for the cover today.  Remember, you will make TWO COPIES OF YOUR BOOK.

Monday: Literature: Create a PowerPoint presentation with one of your poets, his or her poem, your model on that poem, one of your own poems, and explanations of everything.
