Mr. Cougle's PE Philosophy

One's health is paramount. Physical education strives to cultivate healthy students who value physical activity, nutrition and sportsmanship. It is important to challenge and encourage the students to hold this value in high esteem. The students of Aura Elementary School are being prepared today to be leaders of tomorrow.

Hello Teachers and Staff,

Our school is participating in the American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge during the month of February and I would appreciate your support! Our students and families will be learning about staying strong in body and mind and raising funds to help people with special hearts. You will have access to classroom physical and mental well-being resources and even a science-based teacher well-being toolkit for your health and well-being.

Please take a moment to watch this video of 5-year-old Phil and his mother, Megan. Earlier this year, they saved a life because they watched the Kids Heart Challenge Hands-Only CPR video.

Our goal this year is to have 100% of our families and staff learning the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR. I encourage you as our school leaders to register for our online team and complete Finn’s Mission just like your students.

  • Register: http://www.heart.org/schools  or download the free “AHA Schools” app.

  • Complete Finn’s Mission: Watch the 2-minute Hands-Only CPR video featuring cardiac arrest survivor, Damar Hamlin, and watch a music video on the warning signs of a stroke (F.A.S.T.).

  • Remind your students to: 1) Register and 2) Complete Finn’s Mission

The American Heart Association is excited to extend our work with the NFL to support improving health outcomes at home and beyond through the Hands-Only CPR education. Students that complete the Finn’s Mission learning module will earn an entry for two tickets to Super Bowl LIX in 2025 and your school will be entered to receive a $10,000 fitness equipment makeover for every 18 completed Finn’s Mission.

I can’t wait to see our school create a community of lifesavers this year.

Kind regards,

Mr. Cougle
