Congratulations to all of our students, parents and teachers! We are an "A" School and we made AYP for two years in a row!
ARRA Title 1
Be sure to make physical activities and eating healthy as part of your routines!
The first round of Fitnessgram testing is complete for grades 2-5. 4th and 5th grade parents will receive a copy of your child's results at our parent/teacher conferences on November 5th. Grades 2 & 3 students were tested in an attempt to prepare them for next year when their scores will be turned into the District of Lee County.
Grades 2-5 will be tested again in February. In order for your child to be successful in February, your child has PE homework at least 4 days a week. 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups and an aerobic type activity for at least 45 minutes (aerobic type is any activity that gets their heart beating faster - jump roping, jumping on a trampoline, walking, running, playing tag games, riding a bicycle, swimming, roller blading)
This year, all students have PE 4 days out of every 6 days so be sure they have their sneakers on and girls have shorts on under their skirts/jumpers!
Please apply sunscreen to your child and provide them with a bottle of water that has their name on it since PE will be outside (discourage the sharing of their water bottles with their classmates and friends)! Also, hats and sunglasses are recommended.
Make nutrition and fitness a central part of your day by performing them with your family!

Exercise Together and make it fun so everyone sticks with the routine! Here are some exercise ideas: biking, walking, swimming, roller blading, hiking, water skiing, jump rope, jumping on a trampoline, skateboarding, sports, tag games, neighborhood Hide and Seek or Kick the Can games, races, competitions - anything that interests you - just so long as you are moving for at least 40-60 minutes, 4-5 times a week!
Eat Healthy and Make Time To Eat Together - eat from the 5 major food groups. Five Food Groups: 1. Meats - protein, 2. Fruits, 3. Vegetables, 4. Breads and Grains, 5. Milk & Dairy Products. Limit your intake of Fats and Sugars!
Also, be careful about your SIZE Portions - Don't "super size" the amount of food you eat! Remember you can control your weight with the amount of food you take in and the amount of calories you burn when you exercise! Get active and eat nutritious foods!!
FIND A BALANCE BETWEEN FUN AND FOOD!
