A little birdie told me that you can click on the link "Newsletter" and view this week's spelling and vocabulary words for our story (Goose's Story) and any important happenings. No more excessive paper and ink use.....we're "Going Green".  recycle logo  Suggestion: Go to the "bitesize" link on the right and play Alien punctuation, click on "hard" (it's not really hard...you're smart).

will be addingag_new3.gif - 7.41 Klinks to the website often. Check out Dance Mat typing... a great way to get familiar with using the keyboard!!  Try the math games link, under "integers" click on arithmetic,click on addition, click on Long B and start at level 5. Don't forget to go to Reading series link and play spelling and vocabulary games. On the Spelling City link, you type in this week's spelling words and there's many games to play using those words.

      *** Reminder: Please read the story in our Reading book at home.....just click on the link above called Reading book-Unit 1,2,3.  Just click on the dragonfly book, find the current story (Goose's Story) and click on the small book to the right of the title. When there, you can even click on speakers, and it will read the story to you. :) 

       

      * er, ir, ur (clerk, shirt, nurse)        
      * cause and effect    
      * helping verbs (has, have)
      * er....more, est....most (taller - more tall....tallest - most tall)
      * quotations ("I spilled sauce on my shirt," said John.)
      
     

~ Be sure to click on the Reading Series link above and then on the story we are reading this week. Encourage your child to play some of the games (ex. spelling, vocabulary, etc) that go with each story in our Reader! We start our story "Goose's Story" on Monday, February 8th. so fly on over to the Reading Series link..... and check out the spelling and vocabulary words.

 

 

** I have started sending home a  reading passage each week. I would like you to have your child read it to you each night as you time them for 60 seconds. This is important especially if your child struggles with reading.  At the end of last year I had quite a few students reading over 100 words per minute.

     * use data from a table & add
     * estimate a sum (52 + 33....estimated sum is 80).....(50 + 30 = 80)
     * use different ways to add 2 digit numbers

AR Update

 

Below I will be posting point club AR readers. The AR goal for 3rd quarter will be 85% average on AR tests taken for everyone, and the point goal will again be individualized. 11

1. Only store bought items may be brought to school for sharing.

2. The teacher will schedule the treats at the time that works best for his/ her teaching schedule. Please bring the treats to school first thing in the morning so the teacher has this option.

3. Send in one of the following:            
                                       
 * a package of  cookies
                                        * small, individually wrapped Little Debbie, Hostess, etc. cookies/treats
                                        * bakery cookies

4. Make sure you have enough for the entire class (we have 18 students).

                  Do not send:

                                                        home made anything
                                                        cupcakes
                                                        cake
                                                        anything requiring cutting and/or portioning
                                                        presents
                                                        decorations
                                                        balloons
                                                        candles/matches/lighter
                                                        beverages
                                                        flowers

 

 

 

 

   

 

 

Often parents ask what they can do to help their child be more successful. Here's a few tips:                         

 

** Read nightly with your child. 

 

** Practice addition and subtraction facts for speed and accuracy.

 

** Check Planner daily to see what the homework is.

 

** Check homework daily.  *** Discuss any problem areas and correct mistakes. 

 

** Review with your child the graded papers that are returned in Friday's Progress Report envelope.
