Welcome Back to Our Site!

                          **this website was
updated on 2/8/10**

Thanks for coming back to our site!

Our Parent Involvement Activity for the 3rd quarter has begun!  Please click on the Parent Involvement link to the left to get more information about how you and your child can help ARC and the animals in need!

***Important AR Reminder:
AR goals and levels have been handed out to each student!   Everyone should be reading each night to ensure success in AR!!  Many students DID NOT have their AR goals for the 2nd quarter and I would like to see ALL students make their 3rd quarter goals.  Everyone had their AR point goal in quarter 2, but had trouble maintaining the 85% average on their tests.   I know that each student can get their average percent goals and point goals if they take their time and read more carefully!  If a book is hard, read it 2 or 3 times to ensure that 100%!  You can all do it, I know you can!!

What are we learning?!  Here's a Sneak Peek!
**In Math we are working with adding and subtracting double digits numbers, as well as working with numbers to 1,000.  We will be learning how to regroup and borrow while adding and subtracting.  For many is a very difficult skill, please practice at home as often as possible to see to it that your child is mastering this skill!
**In Science we are now doing a Unit Study of Animals and the different classifications of the animals that live beside us on our planet.  Your child will be learning and working with skills and vocabulary that include: living things, nonliving things, herbivore, omnivore, carnivore, vertebrate, invertebrate, warm blooded, cold blooded...  In the end each student will be doing a culminating project to wrap up all that we have learned.  There will be more information to come that will explain what is to be done as the time gets closer!
**In Reading/Language we are working on main idea & details, comprehension skills, using context clues, using a thesaurus, cause & effect, comparing & contrasting, Verbs, linking verbs, punctuation practice, combining sentences, synonyms and antonyms, writing narrative stories, and starting to develop research skills!
There is a lot of fun in store for our class over the next few weeks of school!  I hope everyone can be here on time and each day so they do not miss out on any of the fun and learning!
