Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, relatives and friends who came today to see our great 5W crew! We all had a lot of fun.
5W, you did great at field day today! I am so proud of your hard work, effort and team work. You had great spirit and sportsmanship,too. Thank you for a great day! You were awesome. Thank you , too for your hard work and effort in reading and writing workshop today. We got a lot done, and it will help out with tomorrow's assessment.!
Thank you for your great discussion today on core values: responsibility, caring, kindness, citizenship, truthfulness, education, believing in yourself , bravery, courtesy, and more.
Thank you for the great memories! each one of you did great, today! Way to go 5W! Tomorrow, the metric jump and our mural on the ocean! Next week, we will make our bridges!
THE YELLOW SHIRT
On June 3rd, the yellow t-shirts were distributed to our 5W crew. Each student received a t-shirt from Mrs. Worosz. Field day is on June 6th and students in 5W are to wear their yellow shirts plain with no frills or extras. We are all the same!
The purpose of field day is to have fun, show good sportsmanship, a time to show our teamwork and doing our best. Please keep the shirts plain, dignified, and simple. Keep field day, plain and simple. Downplay the competition and cheer everyone on! We, the 5W O.W.L.S., are participating in field day to show our team spirit and how we can ALL work together. It is an exciting time to participate; however, the focus is not on the "shirt".
Keep the day simple, keep the focus on fun, doing our best in all of the events, getting along with each other and being nice. Therefore, our team shirts will remain simply plain--no messages, no writing, no autographs. Keep the shirt simply yellow!
Since I am unable to monitor and watch 24/7 the signing of your t-shirts with messages, I am not sponsoring or supporting such activities in the 5W classroom or school. I will not be held responsible for any messages on OUR yellow shirts. I will not be holding any signing parties either because there really is no "down" time in 5W. WE take our work seriously in 5W! I am expected to keep to our academic schedule. We were told to have our party on June 11th by administration. I continue to work with 5W on many acadmic activities. Please understand, follow, and respect my wishes and professional judgment and keep the shirts plain. It will cause less upset, make all students feel accepted and connected, and make the year continue in "PAX". 5W~~YOU have been a wonderful group of students all year. Please understand my message and my background of experiences about the shirts. The bottom line is I am taking a stand to protect all of you ahead of time from having something written on a shirt that would hurt someone. I cannot take this chance, you mean too much to me. I thank you for being sensible, responsible, and caring in this upcoming field day event.
When you look back upon this event, you will remember the fun we all shared. It was not the shirt that was of most importance, but the TEAM that we had, the friendships we have formed and the PAX that we will remember for a longer time. The yellow shirt will fade away with time, but our MEMORIES OF WHAT WE ARE AND WILL BE FOR EACH OTHER WILL REMAIN!
Thank you for your support and understanding with this sensitive issue. Have fun on field day, do your best, and there will be no homework that night! I will postpone all tests to the following Tuesday/Wednesday, too. Instead, on Friday we will do a science mural of ocean life, social studies hat project, investigate bridges, and some other learning adventures. :) :)
