General School expectations and course grading policy:

 

 

Grading:  The grading system followed in this class will be the following:

 

                   Tests--------------------------70%

 

                   Quizzes-----------------------15%

 

                   Homework------------------ 15%

 

 

 

 

Homework Policy:  Homework may be assigned in this class every night and will be carefully selected with the intention to assure that all exercises are extremely relevant and beneficial.  The expectation is that homework will be completed each night.  ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN IN ORDER TO RECEIVE CREDIT!  Every day the teacher will check that each student has completed his/her homework. 

 

Quizzes:  Quizzes will be given in this class as deemed necessary.  These may be announced or unannounced.  Generally quizzes will be taken in class:  however, at times take home quizzes may be assigned.  

 

Test:  Four to five tests will be given each marking period.   Additionally, upon the conclusion of each marking period a District Assessment will be given.  An average of the 4 District Assessments will count toward 1/9 of the final grade.    Projects may be assigned, as either a test or quiz grade.

 

Participation:  Success in this, or any classroom, is directly related to the your participation in the classroom.  It is encouraged that you remain an active member of this learning community throughout the year in order to assure that you are gaining the most out of the material.  Progress of your participation will be on the portal almost everyday.  

 

Supplies:  You should provide your own notebook and pencils, and both should be brought to class each day.   Textbooks will be provided for students.  Notebook quizzes may occur during each marking period and may be announced or unannounced.  Therefore, students should assure that their notebooks are kept in order at all times. A Charged Chrome book should be brought to class everyday.  A detention will result.

 

Classroom Expectations

You are expected to:

  • Follow directions the first time given
  • Be responsible by coming to class prepared, and on time every day 
  • Be seated in your assigned seat
  • Be an active member of the class everyday
  • Complete the homework assignments
  • Work with and respect all members of the learning community
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Follow all policies set forth by the Bayonne High School Code of Conduct Handbook

 

Mrs. Peretti is expected to

  • Come to class prepared to teach everyday
  • Be actively engaged in instructing class every day
  • Be prepared to answer questions about the previous night’s homework
  • Work with and respect all members of the learning community
  • Strictly enforce all policies set forth by the BHS handbook

 

Classroom Procedures

Entering the room:  Please enter quietly, have a seat in your assigned seat, take out your materials, begin the warm-up assigned.  This should all be finished within 5 minutes into the class period.  

 

If you have permission to leave the classroom,  please sign the log , reason you are leaving, with time in and out, and take the pass. If the bathroom is locked please come back and tell me you are going to another floor.  If you are out of the room for 20 minutes or more this is a cut.  If you get sick, come back and get a nurse's pass. 

 

 

There will be no eating in the room.

 


Leaving the room at dismissal :  I will let you know when it is time to pack up. If part of a lesson is still going on when bell rings please remain in your seats until I quickly wrap it up.  I will give you a pass to your next class if needed.
