1. Meet Goals 2. Go to Renaissance 3. Do My Best
Magic at Meaux Elementary!! My name is Chantay Abshire. I have been teaching for 12 years. I am originally from Gueydan, Louisiana. I graduated from U.S.L with a degree in Elementary Education in 1998. My husband and I are currently working on our Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from McNeese State University. We will graduate in December of this year.
I am married to Ryan Abshire. He is a seventh grade math teacher at J. H. Williams Middle School. We have one child, Spencer, who is seven years old.
This year's theme at Meaux Elementary is "Magic at Meaux". In fourth grade, our song is "Magic Carpet Ride". So our theme deals with using your individual "magic" from within yourself to make your wishes come true this year. It will be a great year filled with lots of opportunities to use that "magic" and ride the magic carpet to success.
Please use the websites that I have provided for your children to reinforce what is being learned in class in both Science and Social Studies. It is also a great tool to use when they will need to review information for the LEAP test.
I know with your help we can make this school year the best that it can be. If you need to contact me you can call the school at 893- 3901 or e-mail me at chantaya@vrml.k12.la.us.
Test Schedules
I do send home test schedules every week on Monday to let you know when the tests will be and on what since this is the first year that they will be tested in both Science and Social Studies as separate grades. I also include some study tips to ensure that your child is successful on the tests.
Normally my Social Studies test are given on Thursday and Science tests are given on Friday. Please look for your child's test schedule every Monday in their homework folder to see what is planned for the week.
