Grading Scale and Policy
The following is the grading scale for The following is the grading scale for the all subjects in
Reading, Spelling, Language and Math first grade for the 1st nine weeks period. This is also
for the 2nd - 4th nine weeks periods. the grading scale used for Social Living, PE, Art/Music
Penmanship, and Conduct for all nine weeks periods.
100 - 93 = A 100 -- 87 = S (satisfactory)
92 - 85 = B 86 -- 70 = N (needs improvement)
84 - 75 = C 89 -- 0 = U (unsatisfactory)
74 - 67 = D
66 - 0 = F
For the first nine weeks period, SNU are the grades for all subjects.
I will usually give one (1) or more grades per subject per week. Grades will be marked as follows:
total correct / total possible = % = letter grade
Letter grades will be based on the above grading scale adopted by the State of Louisiana and Vermilion Parish School Board.

Each week during the nine weeks period, a grade sheet will be clipped to the test papers. The grade sheet looks like this:

RECORD GRADES (#/#) one grade per line next to subject. To figure out grade to date:
1) add top number of each grade, 2) add bottom number of each grade, 3) divide top
answer by bottom answer = percentage, 4) find percentage on chart below for letter grade.

Please go over test papers with your child. You can color over incorrect answers on Math tests with
a yellow crayon then have your child redo the problems. Keep a list of Spelling words your child
missed and continue to work with your child on those words.
