Welcome to third grade!! This will be a very important year for your child because we will be preparing for testing in the spring as well as 4th grade high stakes testing.

Reading: Each Monday a fluency / comprehension passage will be sent home. The passage is to be read and 2 questions are to be answered each night. The passage is to be turned in on Friday for a 3 point homework grade. We take a weekly comprehension quiz. Vocabulary quizzes are given every other week.
Math: Students will complete class assignments that correlate with their homework assignments. Please review the days work each night. Check our weekly newsletter to see what is being covered for the week.
Spelling: Students will receive their new list on Monday. It will be kept in their yellow spelling folder. I give a trial test on Wednesday and a final test on Friday.
Language: We work on Language skills that will be incorporated into our writing lessons. We will focus and 3 major types of writing this year.
Homework: Students will have assignment pads in which homework will be copied. Please check these assignment pads nightly.
A weekly newsletter will be sent home every Monday to inform you on what skills, tests, and activites are occuring for the week. Please check your child's assignment pad for the newsletter.
