Team Teachers
This year the students will have also 1 additional teacher that will be teaching with me. . Mrs. Dargan teaches reading and social studies and I will be teaching math and science. Language arts will be taught by their homeroom teacher in their homeroom class.
Math Class
There will be different math units your child will be learning this year. Your child will be practicing and engaging in 8 Standards for Mathematical Practices throughout the year. These mathematical practices are: Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them; reason abstractly and quantitatively; construct viable agruments and critique the reasoning of others; model with mathematics; use appropriate tools strategically; attend to precision; look for and make use of structure; and look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
There will be many learning experiences with the different math tasks that will support the development of your child to become more proficient in these mathematical practices. Your child will be completing a variety of math tasks to demonstrate the depth, rigor, and complexity that will be expected of all students and to show what they have learned in math. I highly encourage for your child to practice daily basic math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to become more fluent and proficient in them. You will be notified in advance when math quizzes and tests will be given in the weekly class newsletter.

Educational Websites
On the main menu tab, there are links to great educational websites which your child can practice his or her skills in math, science, reading, social studies, and language arts. Some websites will require a username and password such as educationcity, studyisland, xtramath, mobymax, istation, and Myon.
