Welcome to Ms. Cala's Class!

I look forward to working with all of you as we set the stepping stones for your child’s future.  We will be a working progress to build up some exquisite young readers, writers, math experts, and independent scholars.

My expectation is that you will be there for your child throughout this school year and beyond to help with homework, encourage success, and instill responsibility in your child so they may become the best that they can be.

I will keep you updated on what’s going on at school, your child’s academic performance, as well as behavior.  Please refer to newsletter and daily communication sheet in your child's folder.  If there is anything that I can do to assist you with helping your child, please do not hesitate to send me a message on Remind, call, or email me.  I look forward to a fantastic school year!

**Please feel free to visit the websites to allow your child some online educational resources to use at home**

A Little About Me:  I was born and raised in St. Martinville, Louisiana.  I graduated from SMSH in 2004.  I went on to study at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2008.  I began working for St. Martin Parish in 2009 as a long term substitute at St. Martin Primary in the self contained classroom.  In July 2009 I began working at ELC as the regular education teacher in the Kindergarten inclusion class.  I taught in that setting for two years then moved into my own kindergarten setting for two years.  In 2013-2014 school year, I moved to a first grade setting and have been there since.  I enjoy working with young children and guiding them in their educational adventures of life.  See you soon!
