We are working in groups to discuss new ideas and complete projects.  Homework is given during class, and the students can begin to complete it in class.  This means they may not have it every night.  It is very important that they complete the homework because it builds their skills and teaches them responsibility.  Students are required to read twenty minutes five days a week.

There are several different resources you can use to keep up with your child's grades and assignments.  The Parent Command system allows you to see your child's grades, attendance, and discipline.  It also allows you to communicate with their teachers.  On-course System allows you to find out important dates and homework assignments.

My off period is 1-1:48 daily.  If you need to meet with me please make an appointment in the office.  You can also email me at [email protected], I will try to answer as soon as possible.

My Goal: To encourage the love of reading and to make your child into a life-long reader! To enhance your child’s writing and grammar skills; incorporate the new Common Core Standards.

Curriculum: The curriculum is literature-based. Fundamental reading skills will be addressed and reinforced throughout the year as students apply these skills to a variety of novels. Sixth-grade language arts incorporate the study of a variety of texts, including stories, dramas, nonfiction, and poetry. Integrating reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing skills encourage critical thinking and effective communication. Students study grammar, vocabulary, and literary devices.

6th Grade Social Studies will have module activities/chapters to read at home in order to keep up with class material.

Novels: A number of high-interest novels have been selected to comprise the sixth-grade reading list. The titles and authors are diverse in scope.   We will also be incorporating the Scope Magazine.
