Welcome to May in PreK!

Dear Pre-K Parents and Guardians,

We hope this finds you well and that you're enjoying the beautiful month of May! We have an exciting lineup of activities and events planned for our little scholars this month, so let's dive right in!

Creative Curriculum

Theme of the Month: "Gardening"

In May, we will be exploring the wonders of gardens with our students. From learning about different flowers and plants to how they grow,  our little ones will be engaged in hands-on experiences that foster their curiosity and love for the natural world.

Special Events:

  1. Mrs. Greenblatt's Garden: Our class will take a walk to explore the plants and vegetables growing in Mrs. Greenblatt's Community Garden!  They will have the opportunity to observe various plants, trees, and insects in their natural habitat. Please ensure your child wears comfortable walking shoes and dresses appropriately for the weather.

  2. Mother's Day Celebration: As we celebrate the love and care of mothers, we will have a special Mother's Day tea celebration on May 12th. Our Pre-K students will create handmade cards and gifts for their moms. We invite all mothers and craegivers  to join us for a memorable morning filled with joy and appreciation.

Curriculum Highlights:

Science: Our science lessons will focus on exploring gardens, spring nature and the environment. We will learn about different animals, their characteristics, and where they live. Additionally, we will investigate the life cycle of plants and how they grow.

Math: Our math activities will involve counting and sorting various objects found in gardens and nature. We will also introduce simple addition and subtraction concepts through fun and interactive games.

Language and Literacy: This month, we will emphasize building vocabulary related to nature and gardening. Our students will engage in storytelling, rhyming games, and letter recognition activities. We encourage you to read nature-themed books with your child at home.

Arts and Crafts: There will be plenty of opportunities for creativity this month. Our little artists will explore different art techniques using natural materials, such as creating leaf rubbings, flower collages, and painting with natural dyes.

Reminders:

  • Please ensure your child brings a water bottle labeled with their name each day to stay hydrated.
  • Don't forget to replenish your child's extra clothes in their cubby, as outdoor exploration may lead to unexpected messes!

I am so excited about the upcoming month and the opportunities for growth and discovery it holds for our Pre-K students. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Wishing you a joyful May!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Claro
