Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year at Tabernacle Elementary School.  This year I am very fortunate to be part of a team of District Reading Specialists providing Basic Skills instruction under the leadership of our new Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Christine Skinner.  Having many years of experience at the 5 - 8 level, I am again excited to work for my second year with grades 2-4.  We will develop reading skills and apply essential reading strategies to gain a deeper understanding and enjoyment of text, providing the foundation for a lifetime love of reading.
As a school Reading Specialist my job is to serve as a student and literacy advocate as well as a resource for students, teachers, administrators, and parents in the Tabernacle community.  I also work closely with teachers to provide resources and necessary professional development training.  My primary focus, however, is to foster within the students a love for reading, writing, and learning, thus preparing them for achieving their present and future goals.

Within the classroom, I work alongside teachers at grades 2-4 to help all students meet their individual academic potential in accordance with district goals and New Jersey Common Core State Standards. I help your child find success in reading through various instructional strategies such as in class support, co-teaching models, and intensive leveled literacy intervention.  Instruction is differentiated and geared toward meeting students’ individual learning styles and needs.
I am looking forward to working together with you in order to help your child succeed personally and academically. I hope to meet you on Back to School Night on September 22nd.  Until then, please do not hesitate to contact me using the information listed below.

Best regards,
