Dear Parents, Families, and Friends,

We are rapidly approaching the end of this school year!!!!  We are continuing to work hard to meet our learning goals.   In Math, we have started a unit on addition and subtraction.  Students are breaking numbers into number pairs, and learning how to take a number that is less than ten, and tell how many more to make ten. Students are creating and solving word/story problems!!! In Reading, we are focusing on comprehension, and comparing and contrasting the characters in stories, as well as learning about the story elements, setting, important events, problem, and solutions in the text.  When reading to your child, please review these elements with them. Please review the Sight Word list that came home with your student this past week.  We will be using the Fry's first 100 words as our sight word list this year.  Please practice daily to help your student learn his/her sight words.  There is no magic formula for learning them.  You may try flash cards, making two sets and playing concentration, or Go Fish.  If you have any questions, please call the school to make an appointment, or send a note in your child's folder.  Helpful websites:
