      "4C Stands United"

The 2017 - 2018 school year will be patriotic!! My name is Chantay Abshire.  I have been teaching for 19 years. I am originally from Gueydan, Louisiana. I graduated from U.S.L with a degree in Elementary Education in 1998.  My husband and I graduated with our Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from McNeese State University in December of 2010. I have had the honor of being named Meaux Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2010 - 2011 and also the Vermilion Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2012.
I am married to Ryan Abshire. He is an Assistant Principal at J. H. Williams Middle School. We have one son, Spencer.
The theme in my class is "United We Learn".
At Meaux Elementary, we work with students to keep them on the right "track" to success.  It will be a great year filled with learning opportunities to continue their educational trip while leading them to their destinations (LEAP and PBIS Fun Day).

Please use the websites that I have provided for your children to reinforce what is being learned in class in both Science and Social Studies.  It is also a great tool to use when they will need to review information for the LEAP test (Science and Social Studies)
I know with your help we can make this school year the best that it can be. If you need to contact me you can call the school at 893-3901 or e-mail me at

Remind, Signed Papers, and Conduct Folders

I do use "ClassDojo" to send out messages to keep you informed about what we are learning in class and when tests will be. Please sign up using the worksheet that was sent home.

I do incorporate writing in both subjects, so sometimes the test will be a writing assignment and not a regular test. Signed papers and conduct folders are sent home on Wednesdays. Please sign and return them the next day.
