Assessments that Enhance Learning: OnCourse & CenterPoint Announce Partnership

on March 21, 2018 in Digital Assessment

New Jersey schools seeking high-quality interim assessments get a powerful new offering from partnership of CenterPoint Education Solutions and OnCourse Systems for Education.

NJ schools have gained a powerful new option for administering high-quality digital assessments. OnCourse Systems for Education, currently serving 250 NJ districts, now offers a comprehensive set of interim assessments developed by CenterPoint Education Solutions, the team instrumental in the design of nationally recognized summative tests.

The new partnership provides NJ districts with tightly-aligned interims for ELA and Literacy (Grades 3-11) and Mathematics (3-8) with Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. Behind the design of the tests is a deeply-experienced CenterPoint team, including veteran classroom educators, former state, district, and school leaders, content/assessment specialists, and technology/policy experts. This team worked closely on the development of the Common Core State Standards, designed model content frameworks, and helped develop nationally recognized state assessments.

These field-tested assessments are administered through OnCourse Assessment, a secure and friendly testing platform that integrates seamlessly with the district’s SIS (or natively with the OnCourse SIS). OnCourse automatically translates student activity into interactive data visualizations, and improves instructional practices by:

  • Reducing time managing tests, with online administration and auto-grading
  • Shortening the feedback loop with instant analytics on student mastery; item analysis
  • Acclimating students to technology-enhanced items; reducing cognitive load during state testing

OnCourse CEO Chris Contini feels that this partnership offers unique benefits. “Although changes may be coming to NJ’s state assessments, our districts are focused on ensuring that the tests they retain are of very high-quality and value, and don’t put undue burden on teachers or students.” Laura Slover, CEO of CenterPoint, adds, “Our new partnership with OnCourse will make it even easier for New Jersey districts and schools to access the high-quality classroom assessments they need to support teaching and learning."
