It is that time of year again! Students are eagerly counting down the days to winter break. Cut-out paper snowflakes, and holiday tunes are likely to be creeping into the hallways. Then there’s your countdown calendar, and it might not even be for Christmas (yet). There is a special occasion that comes every December in Louisiana, and if you are involved with your school’s educational technology then you already know that the 2016 LACUE conference is just around the corner.
The 32nd annual LACUE conference is taking over the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans next week. Whether you are an administrator, technology/curriculum director, or teacher, the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators is giving you a lot to look forward to from December 7th to the 9th. If you are planning on attending, here is just a taste of the awesome elements of this year’s LACUE.
Amazing Keynote, Spotlights, and Sessions
Every year the LACUE team puts countless hours of work in to finding the best speakers possible to make the most of the professional development time for all attendees. This year, the keynote is sure to not disappoint. Carl Hooker is a distinguished leader in education advocacy, and has dedicated years of his life to improving education, and technology adoption for schools and entire communities.
There will also be a spotlight speaker, Tony Vincent, and hundreds of fantastic sessions for all attendees to participate in. OnCourse’s Nichelle Tolbard will be presenting “6 Free Websites for Creating Captivating Content for Students.” You can learn all about these online programs, and how your school can superpower its differentiated instruction in a matter of minutes! This presentation happens on 12/8/16 from 4:30-5:20PM in Strand 13A.
Excitement in the Exhibit Hall
Educational technology conferences are changing, and at the forefront of this innovation for the attendee experience is the LACUE exhibit hall. After months of planning, and coordination, the team is bringing a variety of new surprises in 2016. They did not stop at the opening social, and wine/cheese reception this year, and it inspired OnCourse to get a little more creative with our booth experience as well.
At the OnCourse booth #114, we will be offering attendees a hands-on opportunity to explore our new learning management system, OnCourse Classroom, with a riveting round of holiday-themed trivia! We will also have some extraordinary gifts to give away at the end of the conference for winners whose names will be announced at the end of the conference at our booth. What kind of gift will it be? You will just have to wait and see!
After Hours EdTech Networking
The exhibit hall is a great place to meet new people! LACUE will be hosting 2 after hours events again this year for attendees, and educational technology partners to unwind and get to know each other better.
- Opening Social 12/7/16 5:00-7:00PM in the exhibit hall
- Wine and Cheese Reception 12/8/16 5:00-7:00PM in the exhibit hall
We will be in our booth #114 if you would like to swing by and hang out, we’d love to see you!
