ATTENDANCE: Good attendance is very important to success in school. If your child has to miss school, please remember to write a note to the office telling why your child was absent.

ARRIVAL TIME: Students will benefit most by arriving between 8:30 -8:45 am. The extra minutes will allow them to  unpack, get organized, take AR tests, view TV announcements, and get relaxed and ready to start a great day.

BEHAVIOR: Acceptable behavior is expected each day. Students will be reminded when their behavior is wonderful or in need of improvement. A color coded visual reminder is displayed so the students know if their behavior is on track. Your child's planner will be stamped each day so you may discuss behavioral choices. Student have many opportunities to improve their behavior and clip back up during the day.

Reading Activities

ACCELERATED READER - I expect that each student reads an AR book EVERY night and takes a test on it the next morning. AR Tests will be taken between 8:30-8:55 am and during the student's individual computer center time.  Accelerated Reader is a reading program where students read a book on the Accelerated Reader list and then take a comprehension test on a computer. Students earn points based on the percentage of correctly answered questions. Each child will take a STAR test on computer, to determine his reading level and AR "colors". Each child will either use my online library found on Google Classroom, bring home AR books from school, or you can visit your local library for books. Encourage your child to check out Fiction and Non-Fiction books. Practicing reading is essential to becoming a better reader! If your student reaches their goal, they may be invited to an AR party at the end of the quarter.
