Welcome !!!
Thank you parents for giving me a job by sending you children back to school. I understand that you and your child may have met this day with excitement and I hope that this website will help you to know what to expect in my class this school year and answer any questions you may have. I am looking forward to working with your child and helping him/her to achieve his/her full potential. Through the remainder of this page, I will share some of my beliefs and classroom policies.
ABOUT ME:
- Coach K.J. Elliott, eight years teaching experience.
- Graduate of the University of Arkansas@Monticello(1998-2003) in Heath & P.E.
- Graduate of the University of Louisiana @ Monroe with a Masters in the Arts of Teaching.
- I can be reached during school at (323-1143) or by email at [email protected]
Vision/Goals:
- Academic: To teach students the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and to introduce them to sporting activities that may motivate them to keep up an active lifestyle.
- Social: Show students the importance of sportsmanship and interacting with others. I hope to also motivate students to participate in team sports as well.
- Emotional: I believe in using health and physical education to promote a healthy self-esteem. I will show students that how we maintain our health affects how we feel about ourselves. Once we feel good about ourselves, it doesn’t matter how others perceive us. I also plan to give these students a feeling of loving and belonging to encourage them to be able to express themselves freely.
Materials:
P.E. Uniform
Classroom Expectations:
- Dress in appropriate clothing
- Participate in daily activities
- Repect fellow classmates as well as the instructor
- Take care of provided equipment.
Practical Strategies:
To ensure that your child has a successful school year:
- 1. Academically: Attendance is a big part of school requirements and participation is a requirement to achieve success within this class. Please encourage your child to participate “daily” during activities.
- 2. Homework: Because this is a P.E. class, homework will not distributed. Students will be graded on participation and performance. By performance, I mean the ability to perform taught skills. Parents can assist kids at home with improving the skills that have been taught in class.
- 3. Resources: I have provided a website to show you the types of activities that we will be doing in class. The Web address is: http://www.focusedfitness.org/
