Welcome to Child Development
I have been teaching for over 18 years and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with you. The courses are designed to introduce you to child development and the foundations of early childhood education.
You will study theories, create lesson plans, set-up a preschool classroom, implement lesson plans, and be directly involved with the preschoolers in the district preschool classroom that is connected to our classroom. You will understand what is involved in meeting the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children. We will also explore the needs of dual language learners and diverse learners through hands on activities and observations.
Grading is very simple. You will be graded on lesson plans and implementation of them with the children. You will also be graded on the class assignments and group work. But most importantly, you will be graded on participation. You will be observed and graded on your interactions with both the preschool students, teachers, and fellow classmates.
