 INTRODUCTION TO

MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY and BILLING

 

Introduction to Medical Terminology and Billing will provide an understanding of the medical terminology used in the field.  The students will successfully connect word parts to make medical terms, recognize the interconnection among body structures and systems, and communicate properly using these terms.  As they practice and apply what they learn, they will build and link medical terms with confidence.

 

This is a full year course covering topics such as (but not limited to):

 

        • Introduction to Medical Terminology, Suffixes, Prefixes
        • Anatomical Terminology
        • Dermatology:  Integumentary System
        • Orthopedics:  Musculoskeletal System
        • Cardiology:  Cardiovascular System
        • Hematology:  Blood
        • Immunology:  Immune System
        • Pulmonology:  Respiratory System

 

*Billing will be introduced as we progress through the course.

 

Students knowledge and use of medical terninology will be expanded through other educations experiences:

 

Classroom Activities-Games (Jeopardy)

Projects (Build a Heart, Noodle Skeletons)

Reality Shows (Dr. Pimple Popper, Trauma in the ER, Monster Inside Me)

Class Trips (Liberty Science Center-viewing live surgeries)

An ONLINE/at home course that will give you the foundational knowledge you need to make the right financial choices, manage your money and guide you to making smart decisions.  This class does NOT meet, students work at their own pace and are required to follow a timeline/scheduled due dates for grading posted in their Schoology tile.  This will be completed by the end of 2MP.
