Introduction to Medical Terminology and Billing

Introduction to Medical Terminology and Billing will provide an understanding of the medical terminology used in the field.  The students will successfully connect word parts to make medical terms, recognize the interconnection among body structures and systems, and communicate properly using these terms.  As they practice and apply what they learn, they will build and link medical terminology with confidence.

 

Students will be evaluated using a variety of assessment techniques, including tests, quizzes, assignments, and participation.  The evaluation criteria are as follows:

 

 

Tests:

(50%)

 

 

 

 

 

Tests will be given on a regular basis to cover material.  Assignments include any activity that is graded in detail, including reports, projects, notes, and handouts.

Quizzes/Assignments:

(30%)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Review quizzes will be given frequently throughout each unit to check for student understanding and will come in a variety of formats.

Class Participation:

(20%)

 

 

 

 

Chromebook is fully charged, Complete daily assignments/tasks, participation. (Lateness, cutting, cell phone usage will deduct from class participation grade)

 

 

Supplies: Chromebook (charged),  Durable folder or Binder, 1 Subject Notebook, Pen or pencil (needed every day in class)

 

Schoology Account

  • Instructions/assignments will be listed per assignment/chapter and your expectations per day will be posted.  Assignments that are not completed in class should be completed at home.

  • General and class communications will be posted.

  • Teachers can be reached via email at most times.  Please check your email/schoology accounts regularly. My email address is [email protected]

 

Rules

  • Follow all BHS Student Handbook Rules and Regulations/Take note of new policies now in effect for this school year

  • Be responsible for regular attendance/punctuality

  • Use appropriate language

  • No cell phones/headphones

  • Adhere Uniform Policy/ID Policy
