Hi! I'm Ms. Jackson

Teaching is a passion of mine! I am so excited to work with you and your child. It's going to be a year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures and I can't wait to see what the year has in store for our adventures! Here's a little bit about me.

I have two children. My son is happily married and lives in Texas. My daughter is a sophomore in college in Atlanta where she is majoring tin science. I have three fur babies, Loki, Poo Poo and Lexie. They are my heart as much as my children.

I was born in Valdosta, Georgia but I've lived in Hinesville since 1996. I have two brothers.

I've also taught third grade and first grade. I've been teaching second grade for a while. I absolutely love seeing the smiles of students when they learn how to do something. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. It is so important to keep communication open between us and I would love to talk to you whenever you feel the need! I look forwad to a great year together.

Attendance: Much of our learning will take place together in class.  We do lots of hands-on activities and group work.  Attendance is vital to ensure learning is taking place.  Please make sure your child is present every day and on time, except in cases of illnesses or emergencies.  Please send in a note or doctor’s excuse upon returning to school.  Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 7:40 a.m.

Absense: If a student is going to be absent, please remember to send a note for the aabsence.

Money: If your child has money for anything, please put the money in some sort of envelope or plastic bag, with a label of the child's name, teacher, and the use for the money.

Homework   When it is assigned, will be given Monday through Thursday. The homework is to reinforce the lesson(s)  taught each day. Spelling and Math will be nightly. Science and Social Studies homework will be announced when given. Also, reading should be done nightly. Students should read a minimum of 20 minutes a night. It is important that students read. Listen to your student and let your students listen to you read. After reading, ask qestions about the story.

Readiness: Students should come to school prepared and ready to learn. Make sure your child gets an adequate amount of sleep nightly and he/she has a pencil each day. At the beginning of the year, a supply list was given out. Some students brought in extra pencils.  Please make sure that each student have the necessary supplies throughout the the year.

Student Progress: Your child’s graded and ungraded papers will be sent home every Monday in their folder.  You will also receive mid-term progress reports each semester. Please sign progress reports and return them within the next two school days.  We do this to ensure that you receive each progress report that we send home.

Birthdays: If you would like to bring store purchased cupcakes to celebrate your little one's birthday, you may do so during our lunch period. Our lunch is 11:04-11:34. Students cannot celebrate birthdays in the classroom. They cannot celebrate with hats.

Emergencies: Please make sure we have the correct emergency numbers and information on file.  If any information changes, please make sure it is updated.

Medication: All medication will be administered through the school nurse.  No medication is allowed in the classroom.  If your child has medication that must be given to them at school, you must bring it to the school nurse and fill out a consent form so that it may be given at school by the nurse.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Throughout the year, I will be in contact with you about your child.  Some of these contacts will be face-to-face, telephone, emails, or through Class Dojo (more details to come).  Although Class Dojo will be used to communicate on a daily basis, it will not replace face-to-face conferences.  Progress reports are sent home halfway through the nine weeks.  I will be calling you about a conference, but you may also request one at any time except on Wednesdays.

Dismissal and Transportation: School ends at 2:15 p.m.  A note is required for your child if the method of transportation changes (i.e. riding a different bus home or being picked up instead of riding the bus).  If a note is not received, your child will be sent home by their normal assigned way.  This is required for safety purposes.
