Classroom Rules (in addition to school rules)

  1. Enter the classroom quietly and on time.

  2. Follow directions.

  3. Bring all supplies to class each day.

  4. Treat others with respect.

  5. Respect school property.

Consequences for breaking rules include warnings, points deducted from good citizenship grade, removal from an activity, emails or phone calls home, or office referrals.

Classroom Expectations

I expect that students will do their best work each day and complete all assignments when they are due. I expect students to be involved, contributing members of our classroom. They will need to think, explore, ask questions, share ideas and learn in this class. If they do these things, this will be an exceptional year of learning!

Grading Policy

Students will be given several days' notice (on homework board, Google Classroom, and OnCourse) of lab report due dates, tests, and quizzes. Grades will be weighted according to the following scale:

  • Tests 30%

  • Quizzes 15%

  • Labs 30%

  • Homework/Classwork 25%

Science Homework

Typically, science homework each night will consist of reviewing science notes from the day for 10 to 15 minutes. Written homework, such as lab reports or projects, will be assigned occasionally, and students will always have multiple days to complete them. The homework will be written on the board, posted on OnCourse, and, in the case of lab reports or projects, posted on Google Classroom.

Lateness Policy

All assignments must be turned in by the due date, unless a student is absent. Ten points will be deducted for each day that assignments are late.
