Pre-K 4 Curriculum

 

 

 

 

 

 

Language Art

Pre-K Students are encouraged to try out their developing literacy and social skills with the assurance that their own knowledge and ideas are respected and valued. They learn about each letter and its sound and words that begin with a specific alphabet. Manuscript is taught. Emphasis is placed on holding the pencil and forming the letter correctly. The children begin to refine their social skills by working together to solve conflicts and communicate effectively.

Math

Pre-K students develop and understanding and insight of the patterns of math through the use of concrete materials. Children utilize a wide range of manipulative to establish the math concepts of numbers, counting, shapes, sorting, patterns, and ordering. The calendar and money recognition is also included.

Arabic

Pre-K students begin learning the Arabic language by focusing on each letter, the sound each letter makes, and a word that begins with that letter. Children also learn Arabic words that relate to the theme of the month, the colors and shapes in Arabic, and counting in Arabic.

Quran

Pre-K students memorize a new Surat about every four to six weeks, depending on the level of difficulty of the Surah and how fast the children are able to memorize it.

Islamic Studies

Pre-K students learn the months of Islam, the Prophets Mohammad, Nuh, Adam, Ibrahim. They also learn various duaa’s which they can use every day, and proper Islamic behavior.

Art

Art Projects are related to letter of the Week and Theme of the month.

 

Science

Pre-K students gather information about their environment through theme based activities spanning 3 to 4 weeks. Topics include: weather, plants, fruits and vegetables, the body and the 5 senses, animals, space and Earth. For more hands-on learning we have field trips.

Social Studies

Pre- K students develop an awareness of their self, family and environment. Topics include: Community Helpers, My Family, All around me, Ramadan and Eid celebration and Transportation. Children also enjoy firefighter's visit and field trips.
