Miller School Summer Reading FLIPGRID BOOK TALK!

 

Step 1: Relax and read a great book. Check out the Atlantic County Library’s website (click here) or visit the library this summer for their Summer Reading Program READsquared and other reading resources.

Step 2: Join the Miller School Summer Reading Google Classroom You will find Flipgrid and Book Talk directions under CLASSWORK. Classroom Link: click here Class Code: i3vd5g4

If you do not have access to technology or would rather write your Book Talk on paper, please turn it in to Mrs. Levinson during the first week of school.

 

HOW TO GIVE A BOOK TALK OPENING Hook your audience Read a quote from the book, ask a question of your audience, introduce the main character, vividly set the scene or do a combination of these techniques. Make sure to also give the title and author of the book. SUMMARY Summarize the plot of the book. Be sure that your summary includes the main character, identifies the problem, and leads us toward the solution--without giving away the ending! IMPRESSION Share your opinion. How did you feel about the book? What did you think of the author? Would you recommend it to others? What would you rate it? CLOSING Entice your audience Ask a rhetorical question, read a quote from the book, use a cliffhanger, or do a combination of these techniques.
