~SCIENCE ~

 

   This year in Science, the sixth grade will be focusing on Life, Earth, and Physical Science.  We will be mastering the following areas of study:

• Scientific Investigations and Knowledge
• The Engineering Design Process
• The Chemistry of Life:  The Characteristics of Cells (Structure and Function)
• Ecology:  The Interactions of Living Things
• Earth's Biomes and Ecosystems
• Earth's Surface, Water, and Atmosphere
• Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition
• Mattter, Motion, and Forces

  In order for my students to be engaged, curious scientists, we will be participating in many collaborative learning projects in the classroom and at home, from STEM lessons to "field work."  

 

~U.S. HISTORY~

 

   This year in Social Studies, the sixth grade will be focusing on how our nation was formed, from launching the new republic to westward expansion in the 1800's, eventually to the events that pulled the nation apart, inevitably leading to the Civil War.  Students will master these topics through research-based analysis and collaborative learning projects.
