What do I use to teach?
I have to use Engage NY program provided by the parish. I do try to bring in extra activities when needed and time provided.
When do they have homework?
They will usually ALWAYS have homework, you can find this under the homework tab and click on that days date. Sometimes, I do only assign certain numbers, they will be marked in your child's book, however, it never hurts to have them to whole page. Sometimes I do have to reteach lessons and I will ask students to go back and redo homework/problem set pages for homework.
When will we know there's a quiz?
Each test will be written in your child's planner ahead of time. There is no reason for them to not know. We should average about 1 test a week. There will be a facts test EACH week.
My child has a bad grade that I didn't know about, what do I do?
I understand grades are important to you (as they are to me), if you are fearful of a problem please email, call, or come visit me. If the first week of that nine weeks they aren't doing too well I will try to work with them before calling you, if by the second week of that current nine weeks they continue and behavior doesn't improve I will be calling you.
If you call me with a concern, I will try everything I can to help, if after my trying and us having conversations with your child doesn't work, I will send their name to the principal who will then take her necessary steps.
If at any point I feel their grade is dropping rapidly I will give you a call.
During each nine weeks, your child will have the opportunity to earn bonus points.
When will I get test papers?
Test papers are sent home each Tuesday (unless I have for some reason been out Monday and Tuesday and were not able to have them ready for the Substitute to send home, you will get them upon my return).
What can I do at home?
If you have internet capibilities you may visit iReady.com, you child should know their login, if you need more information on this site and how to login please let me know. I sent home a letter during the 1st nine weeks with signed papers about loggin in at home. The more lessons they perform on the website to more growth they have.
Flash cards, I can't express enough how important knowing their facts are. Please have them practice daily with you, by themselves or with anyone, all it takes is 2 minutes.

On the left you will a list of topics, you can click on which ever topic we are working on or a topic your child is having trouble in and all the grade levels will appear, this is great for both reteaching and enrichment.
