 CLASS RULES AND PROCEDURES

HONESTY: Be honest in your words and in your work!

PREPARDEDNESS: Come prepared to class every day, and be ready to work and participate!

  •  Have materials with you (i.e. books, binder, writing utensil); do not ask to go to your locker once class has begun.
  •  If pencil must be sharpened, do so at the very BEGINNING of class.
  • When walking into the classroom, do so in a calm manner and sit in your seat immediately.
  •  Begin working on the daily bell-ringer immediately upon sitting down.

PARTICPATION/SLEEPING: No sleeping is allowed during class; it will only put you at a disadvantage.  You cannot put your head down on your desk or keep your book sack on your desk, either, as these things hinder participation.

RESTROOM/WATER: No excessive trips to the bathroom or water fountain; please go before or after class. If you must go during class, the teacher must sign your planner. There will only be one student out at a time.

EATING/DRINKING: Eating and drinking are NOT allowed in this classroom unless specifically stated by the teacher. We need to keep this classroom clean and orderly.

WORK ETHIC: We work bell-to-bell, so please do NOT begin packing up until the teacher instructs you to.

This also means that you will remain seated until the bell or the teacher dismisses you. Do NOT stand and crowd the door!

INTERRUPTIONS: I do NOT want unannounced interruptions, therefore please do not come to visit or ask questions while another class is in session. Please come during my off period or tutoring time if you have any questions or concerns.

CELL PHONES: There will be NO cell phones allowed in this classroom. These will be confiscated if you are caught WITH or USING a cell phone in accordance with school policy.

DRESS CODE: Dress code violations will NOT be tolerated; the first offense will be a warning. The second offense will result in a detention. This is in accordance with school policy.

            Major Dress Code Violations include:

  • Grooming (facial hair, unnatural hair colors)/inappropriate piercings(i.e. nose, lips, etc) /visible tattoos
  • Un-tucked shirts
  • Non-school uniform shirts/ spirit shirts on inappropriate days

  • Please refer to your Stinger for a more detailed look at the dress code.

ORDER: Do NOT vandalize the classroom in anyway; this includes the desks, walls, and computers, boards and so forth. (Vandalizing includes any form of altering the original state of the object: i.e. writing, coloring, breaking, scraping, moving, dirtying, etc...)

RESPECT: Give respect and you will receive respect.  Any actions or words that oppose this will NOT be tolerated!

General Information:

If you are having trouble with this class, come to me immediately and I can work with you.  If you wait till the end of the grading period, it will be TOO LATE.  I will be available to help you understand so you can be successful in this class.

TO SUCEED IN THIS CLASS you must practice open-mindedness, critical thought, and look for ways to be creative and make connections between class and the “real” world.  Remember that words and ideas can change the world, and this class is a place for you to practice using them to do that.
