Homework Policy
Written Homework is assigned every night except Fridays.  Written Homework should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete.  Some nights there will be three (3) written assignments, other nights there will be just one written assignment.  A math homework daily lesson review worksheet will be assigned every night.  Math facts fluency will also be assigned each night. The other homework assignments will be: a literacy skill review, spelling and grammar
The purpose of homework is to provide students with extra practice with the skills taught in class.  Homework assignments are always a review.  Homework assignments are not graded, but will be checked daily for completion.  They are also reviewed in class the next day.

It is an expectation that students study for weekly tests each night, even if written homework is not assigned in that subject.

Homework assignments will be posted on the weekly class newsletter.  If there is a change to a daily assignment, students will write it in their planner for that day.

AR reading homework is assigned every night.  It is highly encouraged that students read over the weekend. Students are expected to read 30 minutes each night.  Independent reading must take place at home to ensure that students are successful with AR.  To monitor this assignment, students are to ask a parent/guardian to sign the planner after reading has occured.

Planners are given to each student to record the daily homework assignments, behavior and independent reading.  The planner will also serve as a communication tool between the teacher and parents/guardians.  Planners will be checked daily for signatures.  It is the student's responsibility to show the planner to a parent/guardian.

Behavior Policy
Cape Elementary uses Class Dojo in third grade.  Students will record thier daily behavior in their planner each day.

Communication
In order for students to be a success, there needs to be open communication between the parents/guardians and teacher.  Communication will be made through the student's Homework Planner, email or phone calls.  The best way to contact me during the day is by email. [email protected].  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
