Ms. Fernandez Class Procedures and Contract for the 2023-2024 School Year
You must be prepared for class daily and be on time.!!!
This includes a notebook for Biology/ Anatomy and Physiology only, a pen and pencil, a ruler, a highlighter, a calculator, and your Chromebook.
Not being prepared for class will affect your classwork grade as well as poor classroom behavior.***
Poor classroom behavior whether it be in school or virtually will be addressed by me and then handled by the appropriate VPs ***
Nothing less than respect will be tolerated, this means mutual respect for persons and their properties.
Class attendance is critical.*** If you are absent from class ( excused or unexcused) you are still responsible for the work. You should check my website daily ( or the Schoology page) and hand in the missing work on the day of your return to school.
All school rules apply in my classroom (dress code, late, use of electronic devices) Lateness is unacceptable and rude to everyone because it disrupts the learning process.
After the bell rings you are considered late for class. Lates will be documented and also subject to discipline by the VP.
Homework is assigned a few days a week and will be graded.
Quizzes will occur and may or may not be announced. Tests, or a project or another type of assessment, will be given after every chapter and the dates will be announced on Schoology, on my website, as well as on the whiteboard with daily postings.
Cheating, plagiarism, and the use of a cell phone during a test or quiz will result in a zero.***
Food, beverages, and the use of cell phones are not allowed in the classroom unless directed by the teacher.
Bathroom passes are not given on a daily basis and are not issued during the 1st 10 and last 10 minutes of class.
You must leave your cell phone on my desk before leaving for the restroom and pick it up upon your return !!
You are in control of your grade!!! What you put into this class determines what you get out of the class.
Extra help is always available zero period every day !! Do not wait until the day before a test to ask for help. Room TBA. There is no extra credit for failed assessments!!! However, they may be retaken zero period to raise the grade to a 70.
If you are absent for a test or quiz it is your responsibility to make arrangements with me to make up the work during your lunch or zero period.
I will accept late assignments at my discretion, but points will be deducted.
Any HW, lab, quiz, or test not made up before the end of the marking period with the date posted by me or it is graded as a zero.
Grading Policy of the Science Dept.
70% Tests, 20% labs, class participation, and quizzes, 10% Homework.
Classwork/Class participation will be based on written notes, verbal participation, preparedness for class, and proper classroom behavior.
Ms. Fernandez has gone over all of the above information in class and I understand all of my responsibilities in this classroom.
