ELA: Review Week

  • Wednesday Test: Reading and skills from previous week: Super Storms
  • Comprehension: Main Idea and Details, Cause and Effect
  • Grammar: Verbs
  • Narrative Writing: Informative Writing: Using the story Super Storms to write an informative paragraph with supporting details from the story.  (Evidence)
  • Homework: None

Social Studies:

  • Our Community and its Geography: Unit 2 overview: In this unit students will understand how primary sources help in understanding continuity and change over time and how people and events of the past impact our lives today. Students will understand why we celebrate local, state, and national holidays. Students will understand how early explorers, settlers, and westward migration influenced the development of the United States.

Red Ribbon Week: October 23-27, our school will recognize National Red Ribbon Week.  Our theme is: Your future is key so stay drug free. Students may participate in “dress-up” activities by following the schedule below:

Monday- Wear Red Day. Students can wear a red shirt with uniform bottoms.

Tuesday- Put a Cap on Drugs.  Students can wear a cap or hat to school with their uniform

Wednesday- Put a sock on drugs.  Wear crazy or mismatched socks with uniform.

Thursday- Be on a Drug Free team.  Students can wear their favorite sports team t-shirt or jersey with uniform bottoms.

Friday- Shade out drugs.  Wear sunglasses with uniform.

Scholastic Book Fair will be at school the week of Oct 30th! Students will be allowed to buy items during the school day.

Career Day – Oct 31st. Students can dress as the professional they want to be for their career.

Family Night at the Book Fair, Wed, Nov 1st, 4:30 – 6:30.  Families can make purchases at the book fair and there will training available for parents on JCampus which allows parents to view students’ grades online.

 

 

Behavior Expectations: Be Respectful, Be Safe, Be Responsible

Social Skill of the Week: Bringing Materials to class 1 Check with your teacher about what materials are needed for class 2 Bring materials to class 3 Let your teacher know if there are materials that you cannot get.

Please study vocabulary and Spelling words nightly.  Also, practice math addition and subtraction facts nightly.

Check student’s folders on a daily basis for any important information that may be sent home.

Weekly/Monthly Rewards will be given around the flag pole if weather permits on Fridays at 2:45.  You are welcomed to join us at this time!

Custodian’s Day: October 2nd  Show support for our great custodians.

Fall Break Oct 9 - 10 – No School for students. Teachers will use the afternoon on Oct 10th for Parent/Teacher Conferences
