Our day starts promptly at 8:40 am. Our class gathers in the cafeteria.
When you come in each morning you will put away your belongings, take attendance and write down homework in your assignment book. Then you will have a Mindful activity to get your mind ready for the day.

Math
At 9:00 we will start math class. Some of you will stay with me and some will go to another teacher. We will learn about multiplying, dividing, fractions, polygons and measurement.
Reading Workshop/Writing Workshop/Fundations
Around 10:20, we will start our language arts block with reading and writing workshop. During both subjects, I teach a short mini-lesson, then you will have independent reading or writing time. During this time, a teacher might meet individually with you, or we may pull a small group. Good readers and writers always think! So everyday you are predicting, inferring, summarizing, comparing, and responding to the things you read. You will be writing personal narratives, fractured fairy tales, persuasive essays, and informational pieces. During Fundations you will continue learning a multi-sensory and systematic phonics, spelling and handwriting program.

Science/Social Studies/I&E
At the very end of the day you will have science, social studies or I&E. In science you will be learning about forces and motion, ecosystems, life cycles, climate, weather, and seasons. During social studies you will learn about American Symbols, map skills/geography and New Jersey. During Intervention and Enrichment (I&E for short) you will get extra help with something that you're having trouble with or needs more practice.
