How can I help my child become a better reader?

This a frequently asked question. One of the best things that a
parent can do to help their child become a better reader is to practice. Reading is a physical work out for the brain. We send our children to soccer, baseball, gymnastics and other sports practice each week to become proficient in their sport. Reading is a "sport" for the brain and needs to be practiced to become better at it. Children
also love to hear the adults in their life read. Become a reading partner with your child and enjoy the benefits of literature. This link is one of
the many great sites on the internet to get you started.

What is the most important thing I could do with my child to be better at math?

This is a great question. The #1 thing is to use flash cards to learn all of the math basic facts. We have a lot of skills to learn in second grade for math. The sooner your student knows all of their math facts, the more successful they will be.
