 WALTER O. KRUMBIEGEL MIDDLE SCHOOL

Welcome to 7th Grade Math/ 7 & 8th Grade Automation & Robotics/ Medical Detectives

Greetings WOK Family,

Welcome & Happy 2023-2024 New School Year!  Welcome to Walter O. Krumbiegel Middle School. As the school year begins, let's look for new adventures, some old & new friends as well as the beginning of middle school.  I am elated to help you prepare for your future! Thus far, I have served as a 6th through 8th-grade math teacher as well as a life skills & STEM Educator.  My favorite subject is Math besides music and photography. Therefore, I enjoy incorporating all of these topics into daily instruction.  I am always looking for new ways to engage my students and to make learning and life interesting.

Feel free to visit the many helpful links on my website to supplement classroom learning.

Our math curriculum is based on the Common Core National Standards (www.corestandards.org), which emphasize critical thinking and deep understanding of mathematical concepts rather than routine computations.  One of the principal aims of this curriculum is to make math applicable to everyday life rather than merely an abstract subject that has no real use beyond the classroom.  We will be using the Savaas textbook published by Pearson.

Every day, math students are expected to come to class on time.  They should be prepared with their homework, a 3-5 subject notebook solely for math and a folder or 3- subject binder, graphing notebook, headphones, colored pencils, and at least 2- sharpened no. 2 pencils.   Additional tools for students to successfully complete their homework include internet access, a ruler, colored pencils, and a protractor.

We will cover the units as follows:

  • Unit 1: Rational Numbers Sense and Expressions

  • 7.RP Ratios & Proportional Relationships

  • 7.NS The Number System,

  • 7.EE Expressions & Equations

  • 7.G Geometry

  • 7.SP Statistics & Probability.

Students are welcome to come in for additional assistance or to complete assignments.   Please visit the NJSLA Page (formerly known as PARCC) and practice taking the NJSLA.  We will be taking the NJSLA Exam in May 2020!  Let's ACE the Test
