Our ART Program in Bayonne has excelled in recent years through the knowledge that "art" is a very important component in the minds and spirit of our children.

We base our curriculum on N.J. Student Learning Standards, educating our children to become literate, imaginative, competent, and creative. Skills in fine arts, such as drawing, painting, sculpting, and crafts are incorporated into our program.

This year our talented art club will include the 8th graders. Students chosen for this program have shown outstanding artwork throughout the years. This program is an extension of artwork learned in their regular art class as well as stage design, murals, and competitive art contests.  The art club will meet every Thursday from 3:00-4:30 throughout the year. All subjects, as well as conduct, must be passed.  Failure to abide by the rules will result in termination from the program.

Strong family support is very much needed and will assure your child's confidence and success in art. Allow and encourage your child the freedom of creativity at home. Through art, they will know the good feeling of success.

Have a very "colorful" year!    A REMINDER....All students from grades K through 8th grade are suggested to have an ART Homework Journal by October 1st consisting of a pad with white, unlined paper available from a variety of stores such as -  The Dollar Stores, Michaels, Walmart, Walgreens, Staples, Target, Rite Aid, Shop Rite, Stop and Shop, ETC. The pad should be approximately 9" X 12". Thank you for your continued support of the arts!  Your child can also staple 20-25 sheets of computer paper together and put this into a folder. The folder\journal must be labeled "ART JOURNAL" and must have the student's Name, Grade, and Room Number on the front cover.  They can also use last year's art journal if there is enough paper left to get through the year.  A ZERO for homework will be given if your child comes to class without his\her journal whether there was a homework assignment or not. An assigned homework WILL NOT be given every week, however, your child is required to bring their journal to class, regardless.

National COLOR DAY is observed on October 22nd.

National Color Day observes the benefits that color has on society. Colors are a very powerful element because they are used to communicate a given message to people and this makes it very hard to picture a world where color was nonexistent. The presence of color is one of the factors that make it possible for human beings to see and without it; the world would be a dull place. Colors have different meanings and they evoke different emotions in people. The perception that people have about a certain color is caused by their experiences. By celebrating this day, you will have a chance to explore different colors and learn more about how you can make the world around you colorful.  Color is a big part of our everyday life....enjoy all the colors around you!
