Grade 7: Students will dive into the topic of generations and what one generation can learn from another. Students will closely read and analyze short stories and novels to better understand perspectives of various generations. During this unit, students will get comfortable with writing in RACE response, gathering evidence, and explaining themselves in detail.
Grade 8: In this unit, students complete a study of the challenges and triumphs of growing up. Texts will exemplify rites of passages that people must go through in life. Students will utilize text-based evidence to build their knowledge and explain these milstones of life. They will focus on RACE, RACECES, and two paragraph constructed responses.
