Attached you will find the documents necessary to guide you in the updated 8th edition of the MLA.  The English Department has studied the newly updated MLA 8th edition handbook and has condensed the most important MLA style information into these documents for your reference. Throughout the semester the teacher will address MLA style in order to educate you on how to accurately reference sources in the in-text citation and Works Cited page. The MLA template is now the basis of citing anything on a Works Cited page, and there is now one standard rule for parenthetical citation.  This is explained in the "The Basic Rules of the MLA" document that was created for your use.  This document also contains an extensive summary of additional information and addresses frequently asked questions and problems.

In addition, the teacher has posted these documents on this web page and in Google Classroom. The students have access to the MLA template and other reference documents at all times. Please keep in mind that you must learn the updated MLA practices. You are placing yourself at a disadvantage in future classes if you do not master the updated MLA practices. Non-compliance with 8th edition of MLA style will result in frustration for you and can lower achievement scores, so it should be avoided in all cases.
